How can I relieve my lower back pain?

For the last two years I’ve been suffering from lower back pain with muscle spasms. I’ve gone to the doctors so many times and all they can do is give me muscle relaxers and after awhile of taking them they don’t work no more. I’ve done massages and exercises and the pain gets worse. I have no clue what to do any more. Can some one help, please?

if you already do regular exercises etc, have you ever been to a chiropractor? it may be worth it. Has your doctor had x-rays taken to check for arthritis?

have you tried a muscle relaxer such as zanaflex? also moist heat 3 to 4 time a day helps loosen the muscle. I get knots in my neck and back due to fibromyalgia. They get very big and hurt so much sometimes I can’t move my head. I get injections of lidocaine and a steroid in the knots about every 6 weeks it is a tempory fix but helps quite a bit. It usually helps the pain for about 4 to 41/2 weeks.

Speaking for myself, massage had very little beneficial effect for more than an hour or two. It was just a waste of time and money for me.

I had it quite serious a couple of years ago. I couldn’t even use the little screw drivers we use all day without a lot of pain , and many adjustments to metal frames with our small tools became almost impossible to do.

I started wearing a wide elastic sports support strap on the forearm which helped a lot to get through the day , but eventually it wasn’t enough either, so I ended up getting a cortisone shot right in the elbow joint. Talk about pain for a few hours after !

But after about 2 weeks, the original joint pain stopped and I have been free of it for over 2 years now.

I had developed it from repetitive strain after doing the same strenuous movements with the same tools for over 35 years. I know many in this business end up with the same problem in the elbow.
