My dog cannot turn his head left?

This morning my dog was chasing a lizard. In the process he moved around a big trashcan to with his head/shoulder to get to it. When he got back he could not turn to the left. His head is turned right and it pains him to turn it the opposite direction. It is obvious that something happened to his neck or spine. Should I take him to a vet? Does he need muscle relaxing pills? Should we just let this work itself out? Are there any massage techniques that would help ease the pain in his neck or spine?

He may have pulled something, he may have something Neurological going on. The safest thing to do would be to take him to the vet! The vet through an exam and x-rays, will be able to tell you exactly why your dog cannot turn his head to the left. The vet will give you the proper instructions on what you need to do and also probably give him some medication to help him feel more comfortable. Hope your baby is feeling better soon. As far as massaging techniques, I don’t think it will help him much!
